Internet Marketing with an Ipod Touch

This posting will be in English. Okay, this time I’d like to write about a gadget that is quite interesting to use and may help you in your business in some ways.

For my blog readers who have read my blog since early 2006, you guys probably know that I use to travel around outstation with a desk top PC. Yes, my husband and I used to bring our desktop in our car from KL all the way to Terengganu when he was outstationed there. At that time, I had just started to build my websites and blogs and was on a tight budget too. So, for the sake of internet marketing, we brought our PC nearly everywhere we went. Then, sometime later, I got a laptop. Yes, it was extremely tiring to pack and unpack the CPU and monitor (even though it was a flat-screen one). The laptop was a welcome change because it was lighter and easier to go outstation with, especially on flights to East Malaysia.

Just last month, I got myself an ipod touch. Well, it was either getting a 160Gb ipod classic or the ipod touch, but finally I decided on the ipod touch because it had wifi.

Even though the ipod touch uses Safari as its browser, Safari is fine to use and even my blog looks okay on screen.

Nowadays, I just bring the ipod touch if I want to check my emails and monitor my sites. The interface also allows me to bookmark my favorite blogs and websites so I don’t need to type out the full URL on the touch screen.

I find the ipod touch to be very useful for me as there are places where I don’t want to bring my laptop, like when I go shopping, visiting family and friends and when places where laptops may not be allowed or inadvisable (like going to a movie, zoo, etc). Whenever I need to check an email or my sites, I just whip out my ipod touch.

Of course, there are some limitations to this gadget, like I can’t edit my website on it and the screen is limited. Though I can zoom in to type, it takes some time to get used to the touch screen interface and to press the correct keys on the touch-screen keyboard.

One thing I don’t like about the ipod touch is that the screen smudges easily. I always have to carry a tissue or cloth to wipe the ipod touch screen because after a while, the screen will have many fingerprints and smudges. Also, as a Malaysian, I like to eat spicy food, like curry and food with ‘belacan’. So if I were to use the touch screen after eating rice with my hands (especially if the ‘lauk’ had ‘belacan’), then the screen will start smelling like ‘belacan’ if I used it afterwards.

Well, this is one of the few gadgets you can have to help with your internet marketing ventures. As usual the other gadgets or accessories that can help you are:

1.) External hard drive - to keep your downloaded ebooks, reports, graphics, mp3s, videos and back-ups of your sites.
2.) Thumb drive - to easily transfer files.
3.) Digital camera with video - especially for those niche sites and blogs.
